The Furuno Augmented Reality (AR) system displays information about other vessels’ sailing on or near the ship's activated route, as well as details of other sea conditions, such as shallow water.
Information from radars and AIS is integrated with real-time video images from the bridge camera, using Furuno's FMD ECDIS to visually present the information to the navigators to provide the best situational awareness.
The AR technology is able to superimpose voyage information into real-time video. This recreates the navigator’s visual observation through the bridge windows into an augmented reality, which allow the wide range of data to be more easily understood.
