FURUNO BRINGS ADVANCED HYDROACOUSTICS TO THE AQUACULTURE SEGMENT
Since 1948, Furuno has provided advanced hydroacoustics for fish finding and catch control to the world's fishing nations. The development has been tremendous, from the first relatively simple echo sounders to today's highly sophisticated sonars, with an amazing detection capability and 3D presentations that make complex information easily accessible. Furuno Norway is proud to have significantly contributed to this development, with our unique expertise in hydroacoustics and our solid cooperation with the entire Norwegian fishing fleet.
Aqua Scope is our solution for aquaculture. In this solution, we have included, in addition to advanced hydroacoustics, the dimensions of biology and machine learning. Now we are bringing our groundbreaking technology into the aquaculture segment.
AQUA SCOPE Monitors GROWTH AND BEHAVIOR
Aqua Scope is developed and tailored specifically to meet the unique needs for observation of farmed salmon. The solution includes features that provide necessary control of biomass growth and additionally monitors behavior, contributing to unique insight into fish health and welfare.
Aqua Scope has the capacity to perform calculations on up to 20,000 fish every day, consistently and with high precision, regardless of weather conditions, light conditions, and water turbidity. This, Aqua Scope continuously provides updated estimates on average growth and simultaneously valuable insight into how the weight varies over time, and at different depths in the pen.
Detailed insight into weight distribution, not just weight average, is crucial for understanding the actual condition of the biomass and e.g for optimizing feeding strategies.
By combining our unique expertise in advanced hydroacoustics, marine biology, and machine learning, Aqua Scope improves the accuracy of measurements. Our approach enables unique insight not only into average weight but also into weight distribution and variations in the biomass over time. By trending and thereby better understanding these dynamics, breeders can make more precise decisions that directly affect both production efficiency and fish health.
Aqua Scope Real-Time Observation. The solution's hydroacoustic sensor operates optimally regardless of weather conditions, lighting conditions, and visibility in the water. Aqua Scope thus has high-precision, consistent data collection and can present information that is critical for efficient management and optimization of the aquaculture operation, such as average weight, weight distribution, and swimming depth.
Easy Installation and Quick Startup
AquaScope features a compact design to ensure easy installation and minimal disturbance to the fish. Installation and startup are plug-and-play, and observation begins immediately. Just a few hours later, information on biomass and behavior is presented. Aqua Scope easily integrates with existing systems using a web API.
The Aqua Scope echo sounder is placed in a waterproof case attached to the pen with an included bracket. The case contains all necessary electronics for processing, as well as distribution of compressed data to the cloud.
The Aqua Scope sensor package is assembled in a robust enclosure that can be mounted at the surface for conventional facilities, or lowered to greater depths for submersible facilities.
The capsule is hung from a small buoy on the surface, or attached to structures on the pen if available. The sensor is placed one meter below the surface and reads all biomass passing the sensor at the full depth of the pen.
Aqua Scope is easy to install and comissioning is effortless. Observations starts immediately.
